The Electrochemical Protection (EP) system installed on FGD reaction tanks by Corrosion Service Company Limited (CSCL), has been
successfully used to mitigate stainless steel corrosion.

Benefits of EP technique: |
- Provides corrosion protection during unexpected pH, chloride and other chemical excursions and the actual corrosion rate of alloys protected by EP is close to zero
- Low cost corrosion control system
- All of the electrical control and monitoring equipment can be installed while the FGD system is operating
- An integral computer monitoring program allows continuous elevation of the EP system operation
- Is easier to install and to maintain than other types of corrosion protection techniques such as wall papering and coating
- Does not required the existing corrosion be repaired except where leaks have already occurred
- Equipment can be ready for installation within a short time
