Integrity Assessment

Buried Pipelines and Facility Piping

Integrity Assessment: Providing visibility, maximizing efficiencies and ensuring integrity

As pipelines age, the threat to integrity rises and without a high level of understanding of the pipeline’s condition, the risk of failure is high. Corrosion Service recognizes that this level of risk is intolerable and provides a suite of services designed to ensure that the exact condition of the pipeline is known. With decades of External Corrosion Direct Assessment (ECDA), Close Interval Potential Survey (CIPS), Direct Current Voltage Gradient (DCVG), AC Current Attenuation (ACCA), Alternating Current Voltage Gradient (ACVG), Depth of Cover (DOC) and External Corrosion Engineering Assessment (ECEA) experience backed with a comprehensive research and development program Corrosion service can provide a level of confidence not available in the market.

Our External Corrosion Engineering Assessment (ECEA) service was born out of the (ECDA) program with the need to analyze higher risk pipelines and station facilities. Using conventional survey techniques, its risk-based approach provides a level of visibility not previously available to pipeline operators and allows them to allocate rehabilitation resources in a cost effective and targeted manner.

OnGuard 360: Overline Inspection for Buried Energy Infrastructure

Corrosion Service's OnGuard360 service delivers high-quality integrity data for buried pipelines and station infrastructure, empowering operators to target remedial action based on risk, exceed regulatory requirements, and reduce costs through smarter maintenance prioritization.

For cross-country pipelines, every program is tailored to your asset's unique needs helping you prioritize remediation, minimize failure risk, and optimize performance across the asset lifecycle. For facility pipelines, we apply ECDA principles where assessment methods have historically lagged, bringing in-facility integrity management in line with the industry-leading practices used in larger-scale systems.

Data is delivered in the formats that work for your team, including GIS overlays, raw data, and customizable reports — all captured with GPS precision from sub-meter to sub-centimeter accuracy.

Our Team

All pipeline systems are different, and whether the line is new build, 10 or 50 years old, our talented team of industry professionals is empowered to understand the unique characteristics of every enquiry. This is important because as an organization, Corrosion Service strives to provide the extremely high level of support and partnership to provide the customized solutions that our clients require on a daily basis.

Branch offices are strategically located throughout North America and are the primary line of contact for Integrity Assessment clients. Each branch office is designed to provide front line engineering expertise, project management support and field services in collaboration with our engineering hubs that provides high-level analysis and reporting services. Team members are highly trained, with all engineering staff certified at various levels by the National Association of Corrosion Engineers International.

Our survey services are not like others. We routinely compensate our data, based on decades of research, for more accurate defect identification. This avoids missing or mischaracterizing anomalies that could cause a threat to pipeline integrity.

Our data analysis can account for:

  • Spatial Alignment
  • DC/AC Interference
  • Pipeline Depth
  • Sub-Meter, Sub-Decimeter or Sub-Centimeter GPS accuracy
  • Telluric Effects
  • Dynamic Stray Currents from Transit Systems
  • Post survey analysis, to avoiding operator error
  • Stray Current Fluctuations
