Advantage Air - Safety Enhanced Model Cathodic Protection Rectifier
SKU: IRTADVAIRSE
Designed to enhance operator safety with touch-safe access to rectifier components and connections.
The Advantage (Safety Enhanced) Air Series is an air-cooled rectifier that incorporates all the advantages of the standard Advantage Air Series, with additional features designed to better protect operator safety. Developed specifically to meet the Impressed Current Cathodic Protection Rectifier Design-for-Safety Guideline endorsed by the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) in October 2009, this series includes enhanced electrical barriers, enclosed fuse holders and safer output adjustment. These features help minimize the risk of accidental contact with exposed electrical components during operation and servicing.

Key Benefits
- Enhanced operator safety: Incorporates safety-by-design features to minimize the risk of accidental contact with exposed electrical components.
- Simplified output adjustment: Replaces transformer tap link bars with tap switches, eliminating the need to handle live transformer tap connections and reducing the risk of loose connections after adjustment.
- Improved fuse connections: Uses enclosed fuse holders to prevent possible contact with live fuse connections and provide enhanced electrical connectivity.
- Safer inspection and testing: Provides convenient test point terminals for meter verification without removing the DC output connection barrier.
- Simplified DC output interruption: Includes designated low-voltage interrupt terminals and an access opening for connecting an external interrupter without disconnecting rectifier electrical connections or wiring.
Specifications
- Rectifier type: Air-cooled, impressed current cathodic protection rectifier
- Base design: Advantage Air Series, with enhanced operator safety features
- Output adjustment: Transformer tap switch adjustment replaces standard tap link bar adjustment
- Tap switch considerations: Not recommended for areas with sour gas (H₂S), very fine airborne dust or other atmospheric corrosion concerns; consult the manufacturer for alternative options
- Fuse holders: Fully enclosed fuse holders replace standard open-frame types
- Electrical barriers: Clear Lexan polycarbonate barrier covers exposed DC components and connections on the front instrument panel
- Barrier hardware: Retained mounting hardware and slotted attachment brackets for removal and replacement
- Meter verification: Dedicated test point terminals allow meter verification without removing the DC output connection barrier
- DC output interruption: Designated low-voltage interrupt terminals for connecting an external interrupter (dry contact only)
- Interruption access: Protected access opening allows external interrupter cabling to be connected while the enclosure doors remain closed and secured
- Optional convenience outlet: 110–120 V GFI/GFCI outlet for auxiliary equipment
- Additional features: Includes the standard features and available options of the Advantage Air Series, subject to configuration
